The bars are as well–stocked as any I've seen at an all–inclusive, with a selection several brands deep on most of what you'd want to drink. The one exception is the dance club, which is buried in a lower floor under a lobby so the revelers will not keep the early birds up all night. Room service also runs 24 hours and this is included as part of the all–inclusive price.īars here are sedate affairs, either in the two lobbies with lots of sitting areas for socializing, or with small swim–up bars and lounge chair service. Also open on a rotating meals basis are a Mexican restaurant, an Italian one, a steak house, and another poolside casual place with kid–friendly items on the Dreams side.Ī nice coffee shop with strong java to go is a nice alternative for those who just want a shot of caffeine and maybe a pastry to start the day. What I did try was consistently good though: a few breakfasts at buffet restaurant Carnival, dinner at the oceanfront seafood grill at sunset, and a selection of Thai dishes at the adults–only Pan–Asian restaurant with a sushi bar and tepanyaki grill. Only a few of these dining options were open when I visited as the resort had just opened that week: I was the first person to sleep in the room I checked into and the next day Mexico's president dropped by to inaugarate it and pose for photos. Liquor is top–shelf and brought to where you're sitting by attentive waiters and the a la carte restaurants far outnumber the buffet ones. It follows the expected all–inclusive formula of unlimited drinking, dining, and non–motorized activities, but in a far more upscale manner than most of the vacation factories along the coast. This twin hotel project is in the city limits though and is from the expanding Mexican chain running Secrets, Zoetry, and Now Resorts (plus Dreams and Sunscape further down the price range). Most of the new construction has taken place in nearby Nuevo Vallarta or further north in the Riviera Nayarit. Hard as it may be to believe, it had been more than two decades since a new large resort had opened in Puerto Vallarta proper when this property debuted in 2012. Secrets is a slick, professionally run resort that offers a chance to stay closer to the center than many other large hotels in the area. We are leaving the text to show what else is available in the complex since there are shared facilities. Zona Hotelera Las GloriasĮditor's note: the Now Amber Resort referenced here has been downgraded to a Dreams, so we now only recommend the adults-only Secrets Vallarta Bay.
